What is C-TPAT?
Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) is a business initiative developed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
This program aims to strengthen international supply chains and improve United States border security.
The date of C-TPAT implementation was April 16, 2002. If you are selling into big retail stores in the U.S., C-TPAT compliance is often required and applies to the following industries:
- U.S. Importer
- Air Carrier
- Ocean Carrier
- Rail Transport Carrier
- Cargo Contractor
- Non-Shipping Public Transport Company
- U.S. Local Port Authority
- Terminal Operator
- Overseas Manufacturer
- Warehouse Operator
