Environmental Management System Standard Revision Affecting Suppliers Worldwide

McHenry, IL/USA – September 18, 2015

“Clients are already contacting us with concerns about their environmental management programs and wanting to ensure their stakeholders are equally ensured reduced risk,” Pro QC’s Regional Director noted during a recent ASQ meeting in Tampa, Florida.

The ISO 14001 is a standard that can be integrated easily into an existing quality management system.  For suppliers throughout the global marketplace to continue to be competitive, stakeholders are demanding environmental management.

Organizations should approach the latest revision as an initiative that supports growing market needs.  Issues to consider across the supply chain include air pollution, water & sewage issues, soil contamination, resource use and efficiency, climate change mitigation, and waste management. Supplier audits provide detailed feedback that ultimately improves efficiencies and drives down costs.

Pro QC continued to explain “organizations don’t need to be seeking compliance in order to enjoy the benefits associated with environmental management. An internal evaluation and/or supplier evaluations go a long way to support both competitive and financial advantages.”
