Salvatore Falabella opened the first large tailor shop in Chile in 1889, with incorporation of home products and the evolution as a department store occurring in 1958. Since then, Falabella has become a retail industry leader, gone public on the Chilean stock exchange, purchased Home Depot in Chile and merged with Sodimac. Headquartered in Santiago, Falabella is now diversified within several industries, including retail, home improvement, financial, real estate and travel, with operations in Chile, Peru, Argentina and Colombia.
Pro QC has partnered with Falabella since July of 2008, primarily providing product inspections of hard goods such as furniture (futon beds, leather sofas, metal chairs, tempered glass, etc.). Inspections for Falabella are conducted throughout Malaysia and China.
Mr. Bob Chen, Hard Goods, Merchandise and QC Manager at Falabella’s Shanghai office, provided us with some personal insight into the Pro QC partnership. He advised that “as part of the commitment to build up a universal standard of quality control, we decided to partner with Pro QC to apply comprehensive inspections on all shipments from the Asia Pacific region. The goal is to achieve a higher level of customer satisfaction, which is always our mission.”
When asked what separates Pro QC from other providers, Mr. Chen added that “Pro QC’s inspection reports include more specific details, which makes it easier for us to understand and track the inspection process and results. Through the inspection activities, we see extensive information about the suppliers, such as warehouse management, production scales, manpower, etc. We also acquire advice from Pro QC regarding solutions to improve product quality and delivery schedule.”
