While an estimated 1.3 billion units of mobile phones were shipped around the world in 2020, forecasts say that this figure will continue to grow by 10.5% annually for the next seven years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">While China remains the primary exporter for mobile handsets, with manufacturing bases concentrated around Shenzhen, smartphone production is increasing in Vietnam, India, and other South and Southeast Asian countries.<\/p>\n<p>The top 10 exporters of smartphones are, by manufacturing market-share are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>China 42.8%<\/li>\n<li>Vietnam 14.3%<\/li>\n<li>Mexico 9.76%<\/li>\n<li>South Korea 9.46%<\/li>\n<li>Hong Kong 4.52%<\/li>\n<li>United States 2.72%<\/li>\n<li>Taiwan: 1.87%<\/li>\n<li>Japan: 1.45%<\/li>\n<li>Singapore: 1.45%<\/li>\n<li>Thailand: 1.35%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">With such a varied number of producers, manufacturers and importers must establish a stringent <a href=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/inspections\/\">quality control inspection<\/a> process for smartphones in order to maintain quality across markets.<\/p>\n<h3>Conducting a smartphone quality control inspection <\/h3>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Mobile phone quality inspection is a rigorous process, which covers several steps. We\u2019ve included our basic checklist containing the steps our teams cover when they are conducting smartphone quality control inspections. The checklist includes the questions they are looking to answer.<\/p>\n<h4>1 &#8211; Quantity<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>How many items are in the box, and how many items should be in the box?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>2 &#8211; Package &amp; Packaging<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>A visual check to ensure packing is marked properly \u2013 checking that shipping marks and barcode are present and ready for retail. Are the mobile phones properly packed?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture2.webp\" alt=\"Phone QC\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>3 &#8211; Product Style &amp; Construction<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Does the product conform to the approved sample and technical file specifications?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture3.webp\" alt=\"Product Style\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture4.webp\" alt=\"Product Style\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>4 &#8211; Logo, Labelling &amp; Markings<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Does the logo look like the one the client provided in terms of quality, colors, dimensions, positioning, and alignment?<\/li>\n<li>Label and marking test<\/li>\n<li>Visual check that barcode is placed on the product<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>5 &#8211; Measurement Data<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Does the mobile phone measure up, in size, to measurement data specifications?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture5.webp\" alt=\"Measurement Data\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture6.webp\" alt=\"Measurement Data\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>6 &#8211; Functional &amp; Performance Tests<\/h4>\n<p>a. Software check &#8211; Does the version of the software used by the mobile phone comply with product specifications? <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture7.webp\" alt=\"Performance Tests\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>b. Basic Smartphone functional tests will check: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Touchscreen function (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>LCD size and display quality (no dead or pixelated displays)<\/li>\n<li>Battery power<\/li>\n<li>Speaker<\/li>\n<li>Microphone<\/li>\n<li>Power on\/off option<\/li>\n<li>Hands-free function.<\/li>\n<li>Memory<\/li>\n<li>Vibration mode of the smartphone<\/li>\n<li>External T-memory<\/li>\n<li>Cameras (take two photos and save them, then take one photo but do not save it)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture8.webp\" alt=\"Basic Smartphone functional\" \/><\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture9.webp\" alt=\"Basic Smartphone functional\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>c. Fatigue test <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>During the mobile phone inspection, operate all functional and adjustable parts of the mobile phone (if applicable) 20 times to ensure all respond as intended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture10.webp\" alt=\"Fatigue test\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>d. Silkscreen test <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abrasion test: using an eraser, rub 30 times to check quality. For printed content, use 3M tape, pulling it off at a 45-degree angle, to ensure print remains<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/picture17.webp\" alt=\"Silkscreen test\" \/><\/p>\n<p>f. Charging test\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Does the mobile phone unit fully charge using the adaptor, without shutting it off at any time during the charging process?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>g. HI-POT test for charger<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are the Parameters: 1500V ac, 5mA, with a two-second charge for AC\/DC adaptor?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>h. Battery charger check ensures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All necessary customized labels are present and conform with the client&#8217;s specifications<\/li>\n<li>The plug conforms to the specific country it is being shipped to (i.e., E.U., U.S., etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Functions as intended<\/li>\n<li>The certificate is provided<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>i. Reliability test<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep the unit in function for a minimum of four continuous hours \u2013 does the item malfunction or overheat?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>j. Abuse test<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is the assembly of the phone durable enough for daily use by the end-consumer?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>k. Frequency check<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cell phones can cover many ranges of frequency, so do the ranges covered by the mobile device conform to the client\u2019s specifications?<\/li>\n<li>Conduct a SIM and memory card fitness check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/picture18.webp\" alt=\"Frequency check\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>l. Fitting check <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are the SIM and memory card in full working order?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/picture19-150x150-1.webp\" alt=\"Fitting check\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>m. Odor check <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is there any unpleasant or chemically oriented odor being emitted from the product, accessories, or packaging?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>n. Virus check<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure the latest anti-virus software runs a clean check on the mobile phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Picture20.webp\" alt=\"Virus check\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>o. Battery performance test <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Test the battery capacity with the factory&#8217;s equipment or ask the factory to provide the test in compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>p. Visual internal workmanship check<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Disassemble the unit, visually check wiring, connectors, soldering, spacing, and integrity of components<\/li>\n<li>Check against foreign materials that can cause potential malfunctions<\/li>\n<li>Check critical components per the information provided by the client<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>7 &#8211; Product Workmanship<\/h4>\n<p>Product visual test:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is the product physically ready for shipping? It is clean, is the appearance according to visual specifications?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>8 &#8211; Shipping carton stacking test &amp; shipping carton drop test *(if applicable)<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>If required by the customer, the smartphone quality control inspection ensures the export cartons are in good order for shipping:<\/li>\n<li>One column of export cartons is piled up to a height of 2.5m, or as intended to be palletized, for four hours.
