{"id":1254,"date":"2015-02-05T16:08:03","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T16:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/?p=1254"},"modified":"2023-09-19T10:56:04","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T10:56:04","slug":"leading-teams-effectively","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/leading-teams-effectively\/","title":{"rendered":"Leading Teams Effectively"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Managing teams is a core leadership subject within the CMQ\/OE certification body of knowledge. \u00a0As a CMQ\/OE and Education Chair of the local ASQ section in Tampa, Pro QC&#8217;s Communications Director recently instructed a webinar related to <em>Leading Teams Effectively.<\/em> \u00a0Similar training was also recently conducted for our team in China. \u00a0At Pro QC, we understand the benefits of effective teams as it relates to the delivery of value-added quality services that reduce our clients&#8217; risks and cost.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3256 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/proqc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/team.webp\" alt=\"TEAM\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>With experience managing teams across 38 countries, our takeaways for managing effectively\u00a0include:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Right People &#8211;<\/strong> Selecting team members that have the right experience, skills and attitudes is critical.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Navigating Team Stages &#8211;<\/strong> Understand the five <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mindtools.com\/pages\/article\/newLDR_86.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow noindex\">team development stages<\/a>\u00a0of forming, storming, norming and performing. \u00a0Leadership within each stage ensures smooth transitions and maximizes productivity throughout the process.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Approach to Problem Solving &#8211;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Understand the team problem-solving steps, but more specifically ensure that each team member is knowledgeable regarding quality tools that can be incorporated throughout the process. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/0873896394\/?tag=googhydr-20&amp;hvadid=45082582837&amp;hvpos=1t2&amp;hvexid=&amp;hvnetw=g&amp;hvrand=16066239312260997117&amp;hvpone=55.41&amp;hvptwo=&amp;hvqmt=b&amp;hvdev=c&amp;ref=pd_sl_4g1uuprmvy_b\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow noindex\">The Quality Toolbox<\/a> is an invaluable resource here.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Build Mutual Trust &amp; Respect<\/strong> &#8211;<\/h2>\n<p>It is noted that over 33 million results appear when you type &#8220;team building&#8221; into Google. \u00a0Many of these include team building consulting or other related information. \u00a0Team building focuses on building mutual trust and respect that is required for teams to successfully meet goals and objectives. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.teampedia.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow noindex\">Teampedia<\/a> offers several ideas, but consistency and management support are key.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Staying Organized &#8211;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Organization, including\u00a0the development of a Team Charter, written agendas and clearly defined roles, is correlated with a team&#8217;s ability to meet goals and objectives.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Continuous Improvement &#8211;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Periodic evaluation of team performance is necessary. \u00a0Evaluating whether or not the team is supportive, participative, organized, has adequate resources and clearly defined leadership supports continuous improvement and higher quality output.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision.
